The GNPC Foundation and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have agreed to deepen their collaboration to provide more holistic support for scholarship beneficiaries, moving beyond financial aid to focus on skills, mentorship and career development.

A delegation from the GNPC Foundation, led by Managing Director Helga J.M. Boadi, paid a high-level working visit to UCC to assess strategic opportunities for expanding the partnership.

The delegation was received by UCC’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyor Aheto, Registrar Gideon Abbeyquaye, Esq., Dean of Students Prof. Daniel Apaak, Chairperson of the Scholarship Selection Sub-Committee Prof. Samuel Kwesi Nkansah, and Head of the Students’ Financial Support Office Ms Alice Emily Dadzie Okyere.

Speaking during the engagement, Mrs Boadi said the Foundation remains committed to investing in programmes that ensure the holistic development of its scholars.

“We are looking beyond traditional scholarship funding. Our goal is to equip GNPC Foundation beneficiaries with the entrepreneurship, leadership and career skills they need to become active contributors to Ghana’s sustainable development,” she stated.

The discussions centred on four key areas for expanded cooperation: entrepreneurship development, career readiness training, structured mentorship and leadership incubation.

Prof. Aheto expressed gratitude to the GNPC Foundation for its continued support and emphasised the need to align the scholarship framework with the current demands of tertiary education and national human resource development.

“Financial support is important, but what industry needs now are graduates who are future-ready and value-driven. This expanded partnership with the GNPC Foundation will help us achieve that,” Prof. Aheto said.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing a talent pool of innovative, competent graduates through high-impact, student-centred programmes.

The GNPC Foundation has, over the years, provided scholarships to hundreds of Ghanaian students across tertiary institutions as part of its mandate to impact lives and support nation-building.
