The leadership of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has paid a solidarity visit to Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, as part of a working tour of national sports associations and federations.

NSA Board Chairman Dr Fred Awaah and Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah visited the team's camp on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium during a friendly warm-up match as the team intensified preparations for its decisive FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

Addressing the players, NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah congratulated the Black Maidens on their efforts and encouraged them ahead of the crucial encounter.

He assured the team of the NSA's full backing, stating that they have the authority's complete support as they represent Ghana on the international stage.

Speaking on behalf of NSA Board Chairman Dr Fred Awaah, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah told the players that their success would be celebrated, adding that the chairman has a special package for the team should they secure qualification.

The visit forms part of efforts by the NSA leadership to motivate and support Ghana's national teams ahead of major competitions.

The Black Maidens are preparing for the second leg of the final-round FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier against Senegal on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:30 GMT.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Dakar, leaving the qualification tie finely poised ahead of the decisive return fixture.
