Two people have reportedly been killed and two others injured following a confrontation between police officers and residents of Sefwi Sayerano in the Western North Region.

The incident is said to have occurred when officers from the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command attempted to arrest a suspected drug peddler in the community.

According to a video shared by TV3 on X on July 7, 2026, residents allegedly resisted the arrest, resulting in a confrontation between the crowd and the police.

During the ensuing clash, the officers reportedly opened fire.

One resident, speaking in the aftermath of the incident, condemned the actions of the police, claiming the officers acted unjustifiably.

"The police did not do the right thing to us. From today onwards, we do not want the presence of the police in our community," the resident said.

Reports indicate that two people died at the scene, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and fractures.

The injured persons have reportedly been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations continue.
