Renowned actor Oscar Provencal has advised university graduates to consider applying their skills to support small businesses instead of focusing only on securing formal employment.

Speaking in an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, he said many small-scale business owners suffer in areas such as bookkeeping, marketing, and business growth, which graduates can provide.

“Instead of sitting at home, can’t they find a way to get involved with these people and say, ‘Listen, let me guide you,” he stated.

“I can grow your business for you through what you have learnt?” he added.

He further cited examples of market women who have operated businesses for years but may not have access to modern business strategies.

“You see one lady selling kenkey for the past 20 years in one place on the street with a queue of 100 people.

“You can bring knowledge to that person and tell them, ‘This is how you should do it. Repackage it. Do different branding,” he added.

Provencal also urged graduates to explore ways of creating value with their education rather than waiting solely for white-collar jobs, which he said remain limited.
