A moment of panic unfolded during a simulation exercise in Port Harcourt when two Nigerian Army helicopters made what observers described as a ‘dangerous’ landing.

In a video that has gone viral and was sighted by GhanaWeb on July 7, 2026, the incident reportedly occurred during a rescue demonstration by the Nigerian Army Aviation Corps at the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026.

The video captures the moment the Nigerian Army Aviation team made its entrance.

However, the helicopters' landing appeared forceful, with the impact that sent red carpets flying and toppling metallic barricades that had been set up for the event, causing panic among attendees.

The soldiers on board the helicopters then got out and gathered before moving towards a military vehicle where armed men were holding a victim in what appeared to be a hostage situation.

The team carried out the rescue operation smoothly. They overpowered the armed men, rescued the victim and safely evacuated him as part of the simulation exercise.

The helicopters' take-off also drew attention after one of them appeared to tilt sharply downward while flying at a low altitude over the event grounds, where a large crowd had gathered in the stadium, creating another dramatic moment during the exercise.
