A South African national has expressed concern over recent anti-illegal immigration demonstrations organised by the March and March group in the country.

In an interview with Newzroom Afrika on June 20, 2026, the Cape Town resident said the marches could have serious consequences for families and children of nationals who had relations with foreigners.

According to her, many South Africans have built families and had children with foreign nationals, making calls for their removal from the country a complex issue.

Emphasising the impact such actions could have on affected families, she said the departure of foreign partners could leave many women raising children alone, placing an additional financial and emotional burden on them.

“It's not right, especially. What happened, I don't like it [marches]. We have children with foreigners, and then after that, you say the foreigners must go.

“Who's going to support the child? I can't support the child alone, so it's better to take the child with the foreigner,” the resident said.

Her comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media.

While some South Africans disagreed with her views, others supported her position and criticised the anti-immigration marches.

Meanwhile, supporters of the demonstrations continue to call for stricter enforcement of immigration laws, while critics argue that the protests could have negative consequences for families and communities.
