A US-based Ghanaian nurse has been shot dead during a robbery in Oakland, California, leaving his family and community devastated.

According to a Fox KTVU news report, 33-year-old Lartey Solomon, a registered nurse at Kindred Hospital in San Leandro, was attacked in the early hours of May 31.

He and a friend had just left a nightclub around 2:45 a.m. when a man confronted him in a parking lot, demanding his necklace. Despite handing it over, Solomon was shot and killed instantly.

Solomon was widely known online as “Nurse Solomon”, sharing free medical advice on YouTube and TikTok.

He immigrated from Ghana in search of a better life and dreamed of becoming a doctor.
He leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter in Ghana.

According to the report, authorities arrested Shacory Carnell Daniels, 39, of Vallejo, several days after the shooting. Daniels, who has a prior criminal record, faces charges of felony murder and other felonies. He is being held without bail, with a plea hearing scheduled for June 30.
