Solomon Owusu punches holes in Linda Ocloo’s performance record

Director of Communications for the United Party, Solomon Owusu, has questioned the credibility of a recent award, directly challenging Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo’s defense of the recognition.

Linda Ocloo had defended her award as Best Regional Minister at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards, insisting she deserved the recognition because of her visible work and contributions in Greater Accra Region.

According to her, her efforts in sanitation, flood control, demolitions on waterways, and regional development justified the honour, despite public criticism.

However, Owusu, in a panel discussion on GTV Breakfast on June 9, 2026, slammed Ocloo’s remarks that she deserved it because she had worked hard to manage diverse situations in the region.

He pointed to uncompleted projects, including the installation of streetlights, as evidence that promises remain unmet.

"I heard the Greater Accra Regional Minister saying she deserves it because she has worked. But who told her? Who told her she has worked? You came to promise us that there will be streetlights all over the place. They have not come. You will not concentrate on that," he said.

He further stated that before accepting any award, leaders should reflect on whether their promises to the public have been fulfilled.

He cited unfulfilled commitments such as the 24-hour economy, improved road networks, and the training of one million youth for security.

"Before you decided to go for any award, you should have asked yourself these questions. Whether or not the 24-hour economy that you promised has been fully achieved. Whether or not the road networks have been fully achieved."

"Whether or not the coders of 1 million have been trained for security. Remember, recently we had Burkina; what happened? So I was expecting them to be magnanimous. To be sensitive to the very promises that they gave to the people of this country."

People are already in a hurry for you to go out of power. I think people are tired,” he added.
