Prophet Kofi Oduro, pastor of the Alabaster International Ministries, has thrown his full weight behind Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh’s decision to suspend Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) CEO, Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, describing the move as decisive leadership.
Prophet Oduro’s endorsement comes after the health minister suspended Dr Baidoo for two weeks over the hospital’s announcement that it had temporarily halted new emergency admissions due to severe overcrowding, water shortages, and exceeded capacity.
Health Minister suspends KATH CEO for two weeks
The minister argued that the CEO acted against directives from President John Dramani Mahama.
Following this development, some health officers have declared a strike in solidarity with their suspended boss and to drum home capacity challenges at the facility.
Reacting to this in a video which appears to be a sermon to his congregation on June 7, 2026, he called on the health minister to be firm in his decisions and sack as many health workers who are not working.
He called on Akandoh to be firm, urging authorities to do the needful, while describing the strike as unacceptable.
"The health minister has suspended a CEO and some people are saying they won't agree, so they are going on strike. Minister, sack them. I am telling you, honourable minister. Be firm in your decisions and do your job. I don't know why these ministers are behaving like pastors. They don't want to offend anyone. Stop it; that is not leadership," Prophet Oduro stated.

He stressed that true leadership must be bold enough to hire and fire, warning ministers against acting like “pastors” who fear offending people.
In his view, allowing defiance in critical sectors like healthcare poses a serious threat to public order and patient safety.
🇬🇭He Did the Right Thing, the CEO deserves to be suspended.”
