Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Christian Council of Ghana and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with faith-based organisations to promote national development.
The Christian Council of Ghana recently held its General Assembly, during which Rev Enock Nii Narh Thompson, Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, was elected Chairman. Rt Rev Dr Abraham Opare Kwakye, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, was also elected Vice Chairman.
In a congratulatory message, Dr Bawumia praised the new leaders and expressed confidence in their ability to uphold the Council’s long-standing tradition of service to the nation.
“I warmly congratulate the newly elected Chairman and Vice Chairman and wish them Godspeed. I have full confidence in their exceptional leadership and integrity to steer the affairs of this nearly century-old, prominent, and impactful ecumenical body,” he said.
He further underscored the importance of collaboration between political leadership and faith-based organisations in advancing national progress.
“Consistent with my vision of working with faith-based institutions to chart a path for a prosperous and peaceful Ghana, I look forward to collaborating closely with the leadership and Executive Council of the Christian Council to realize our shared vision for our people,” he added.
Dr Bawumia also commended the outgoing Chairman, Rt Rev Dr Col (Rtd) Seth Senyo Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana, for what he described as his “distinguished leadership and service” during his tenure.
The Christian Council of Ghana continues to play a significant role in national dialogue, moral advocacy and interfaith cooperation across the country.
