Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take pride in the performance and achievements of the government so far.

She called on supporters and members of the party to continue supporting the government's efforts to improve the quality of life of Ghanaians.

According to her, NDC members should be encouraged by the achievements of the government, noting that President John Dramani Mahama's administration is managing and utilising the nation's resources prudently.

The Vice President made the remarks while speaking at a colourful ceremony held at Banda-Ahenkro in the Bono Region to mark the 47th anniversary of the June 4 Uprising. The event was held on the theme: "Strengthening State Institutions: Lessons from the June 4, 1979 Uprising."

Vice President Professor Opoku-Agyemang said, "The government is operating with a relatively small number of ministers, allowing more funds to be channelled into critical development projects."

She noted that the government has placed significant emphasis on road infrastructure development, largely due to concerns consistently raised by communities during the 2024 election campaign.

"It is not by accident that we are paying much attention to roads. Throughout the campaign, communities repeatedly requested better roads, and we witnessed firsthand the difficulties people face because of poor road conditions," she explained.

The Vice President stressed that investments in roads, markets, healthcare facilities, and other social infrastructure are essential to improving living standards and promoting economic growth.

She observed that many market women conduct their businesses under difficult conditions, particularly during the rainy season, underscoring the need for the government to construct modern markets to ease their challenges.

Vice President Professor Opoku-Agyemang also commended ministers of state for their dedication and commitment to national service.

"Many of the ministers are simultaneously managing ministerial duties, parliamentary responsibilities, constituency work, and cabinet assignments, with some serving without deputy ministers," she said.

"This is a significant sacrifice, and they deserve our encouragement and support to do even more," she added.

She noted that the successful implementation of government policies and programmes depends largely on the active participation of citizens.

The Vice President expressed appreciation to NDC faithful and Ghanaians generally for their continued support for the government.

"While it is important to reflect on past challenges, those challenges should serve as motivation to find lasting solutions," she stated.

"The problems of the past remind us why we are in government, to solve them and improve the lives of our people," she added.
