'Release Oppong Nkrumah's RTI on Ghana diplomats' - Titus Glover to Ablakwa

Titus Glover says Oppong Nkrumah (L) has filed RTI, urges Ablakwa (R( to release diplomat details

Former Tema East MP, Titus Glover, has urged the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to release information requested by Ofoase-Ayirebi MP, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Speaking on Adom FM on June 1, 2026, Titus Glover said he does not understand why the minister has delayed providing the details, especially since the issue has already gained public attention.

He argued that the request should be handled with the same level of transparency and accountability that Ablakwa strongly promoted while he was in opposition.

“Oppong Nkrumah has filed an RTI request for some information on issues involving diplomats, but Okudzeto has been dodging it and has come to the media,” Glover said.

The former Information Minister is reported to be seeking comprehensive details on salaries, allowances and benefits paid to Ghana’s diplomatic staff, including ambassadors, high commissioners, deputy high commissioners and deputy ambassadors serving in missions abroad.

The request also covers breakdowns of basic salaries, housing support, entertainment allowances, travel perks, medical coverage, educational assistance and other entitlements, as well as the criteria used in allocating them.

Despite the passage of months since the application was made, Glover noted that the Foreign Affairs Minister has yet to disclose the information, a situation he believes contradicts the principles Ablakwa previously advocated.

“Okudzeto Ablakwa was somebody who was instrumental in advocating public disclosure, transparency and accountability while in opposition, so what has changed? He should bring the information we need so we can work with it,” he said.

The former Tema East MP maintained that public trust in governance improves when officials respond promptly to legitimate information requests and remain committed to openness and accountability.
