The 2026 FA Cup final between Dreams FC and Nations FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, May 31, 2026, was already steeped in spectacle even before a ball was kicked, thanks to a vibrant trophy parade that blended strength, tradition and theatre.
A group of “machomen” stole the spotlight in the pre-match ceremony, dressed in Ghanaian traditional ornaments with shorts coloured in the national flag.
They moved in formation through the stadium grounds, drawing applause and curiosity from fans as they escorted the coveted trophy on its final journey to the pitch.
At the centre of the procession was a horse, calmly guided forward as part of the ceremonial display. Seated on top was a bodybuilder who carefully balanced while holding the FA Cup trophy aloft, ensuring it remained the focal point of attention.

The shining silverware glistened under the stadium lights as anticipation built for the final.
Two of the machomen walked closely beside the horse, matching its pace in disciplined coordination, while two others followed behind carrying the flags of Dreams FC and Nations FC, waving them proudly as the atmosphere inside the stadium reached boiling point.
When the match finally began, it lived up to its billing as a tense and dramatic final.
Nations FC struck first through Joseph Effah’s 31st-minute header, but Dreams FC responded before halftime with Abdul Razak Salifu’s equaliser, keeping the contest finely balanced all the way through extra time.
After a goalless second half and extra period filled with pressure and fatigue, the final was decided on penalties.
Nations FC held their nerve to convert five of their six spot kicks, while Dreams FC faltered with two misses, handing Nations FC a historic 5-4 shootout victory and their first-ever FA Cup title.
