Nations FC captain, Razak Simpson remains optimistic about his chances of making Ghana's final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting that the final selection process is not yet complete.

Speaking ahead of Ghana's international friendly against Wales, the defender dismissed suggestions that he has already missed out on a place in the Black Stars squad, stressing that he remains focused on training and proving his worth.

"Are you sure I'm not going to the World Cup? The final selection is not out," Simpson said when asked about his chances of making the team.

"Usually, I will not be going to the World Cup. The final selection hasn't come yet, so I'm just hoping. I'm still training, I'm still focused. We'll see. I'll just leave it in God's hands."

The Nations FC player acknowledged the intense competition for places but believes his performances have given him a realistic chance of earning a spot in coach Carlos Queiroz's final squad.

Simpson also referenced his involvement in Ghana's previous matches, including the encounter against Mexico, as evidence of his contribution to the national team setup.

"I was part of the Mexico game. We just have to wish them all the best coming tomorrow in the game," he added.

Despite uncertainty surrounding his inclusion, Simpson expressed confidence in the Black Stars' prospects, backing the team to secure victory in their upcoming fixture.

"Me, I know they are going to win. After that, then we'll see what happens."

With the final squad yet to be announced, Simpson remains hopeful that his dream of representing Ghana on football's biggest stage will become a reality.
