'Take your time, speak slowly' - Watch the moment a Ghanaian lady 'dazzled' Mahama with her accent

President Mahama and 18-year-old Bevline at the town hall meeting in London

Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom got the opportunity to interact with President John Dramani Mahama at a town hall meeting in London, organised by the British High Commission.

One of the light moments at the meeting was when an 18-year-old lady took her turn to ask the president some questions.

She asked the president how foreign direct investment can be pursued “in a way that ensures that there is no resource crowding and displacement of domestic businesses, especially as a young person with future business ambitions.”

As the young lady moved to her seat amid applause from the audience, the president asked that she be given the microphone back.

He indicated that he could not hear a word of what she said because of her accent.

“Kindly give her the microphone. Can you speak slower… Take your time, speak slowly,” Mahama said to the amusement of the crowd.

The young lady started her question again. She reintroduced herself and made an effort to speak more slowly this time around, but that did not stop the president from taunting her.

“Can somebody say it in Ghanaian English for me?” the president said as he, the lady and the crowd burst into laughter.

Eventually, the president got a grasp of the question.
