Former Black Stars legend Michael Essien has expressed optimism that the Black Stars will emerge victorious when they face England at the FIFA World Cup.

He described the fixture as one football fans around the world are eager to watch.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Micheal shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated encounter and the challenge awaiting both sides.

When asked whether the hot conditions could favour Ghana, Essien admitted he was unsure but insisted the game promises to be exciting.

“I don’t know. But I mean, I think it’s going to be a great game.

“It’s a great match that everyone is looking forward to see and yeah, hopefully it will be a good one and the best team should win,” he said

Essien was also asked about England’s squad and their chances heading into the tournament. While backing Ghana to triumph, he acknowledged the quality within the English team.

“I hope Ghana beat them,” he said .

“On a serious note, I think they’ve assembled the best players they could to represent their country. So yeah, I think it’s going to be an exciting one. We just have to sit back and enjoy the show,” he added.
