A physically challenged man, Ebenezer Obeng, has made a passionate appeal for help, saying his wife has left home to work at a galamsey site and has refused to return until he can buy her a refrigerator for their business.

According to Obeng, who lives at Assin Praso with his three children, his wife, Abena Comfort, left home in search of better income opportunities to support the family but has since stayed away due to the couple’s financial difficulties.

Speaking in an interview on Nyhira FM’s Obra on May 25, 2026, he explained that the situation has put him under severe pressure as he struggles to care for the children alone while managing his small charcoal-burning business.

“My wife won’t come back home until I buy her a fridge. I am disabled and I cannot afford it now. I am pleading with the public to help me bring her back home,” he said.

Obeng said his wife used to sell water but because she did not have a refrigerator, she relied on other people’s fridges to keep the water cool before selling. He noted that this challenge pushed her to travel to a galamsey site in search of money to purchase her own fridge so she could sustain the business.

He further explained that their household situation has been complicated, as Abena had one child before their marriage and together they have had two more children, making the responsibility of childcare and survival even more demanding.

“Life has been difficult, so I had to go and work to get money for the family,” Abena Comfort said when contacted.
