Samuel Attah Kumi stole the spotlight on the final day of the Ghana Premier League season after netting six goals in Bibiani Gold Stars’ thrilling 8-3 victory over Eleven Wonders at Dun’s Park.
The prolific forward produced a stunning performance to clinch the league’s Golden Boot, finishing the season with 19 goals.
Kumi entered the final round trailing Bechem United striker Augustine Okrah by two goals in the race for the top scorer award.
However, the Gold Stars attacker delivered an unforgettable display, scoring in the 35th, 38th, 47th, 52nd, 65th and stoppage-time minutes to leapfrog his rival.
Okrah managed a brace in Bechem United’s 3-2 loss to Berekum Chelsea, but it was not enough to deny Kumi the top scorer honour.
Razack Sanou and John Arthur Godfred also got on the scoresheet for Bibiani Gold Stars, while Abdul Rashid Husseini and Eden Kofi Asamoah, who scored twice, found the net for Eleven Wonders.
Although Gold Stars’ title hopes had already ended following last week’s defeat to Dreams FC, the emphatic win provided a memorable finish to their campaign.
Kumi’s six-goal heroics will undoubtedly go down as one of the most remarkable individual performances in recent Ghana Premier League history.
