A video circulating widely on social media has offered Ghanaians a rare look inside the small church where late former President John Evans Atta Mills reportedly worshipped during his time in office at the Osu Castle.
In the video, sighted by GhanaWeb on May 25, 2026, a tour guide explained that the chapel served as President Mills’ personal place of prayer while he occupied the presidency.
“This is the president’s church. President Mills used to worship here, not just on Sundays. He was a very prayerful man,” the guide narrated.
The guide also referenced criticisms the late president faced during his administration, when some political opponents allegedly accused him of turning the presidency into a “prayer camp.”

“Now, if you remember very well, there was a time they accused him of turning the presidency into a prayer camp. This room became so popular because the opposition accused him of always praying,” he added.
The footage showed the modest interior of the chapel, including a worn-out floor, an offering bowl, and a Bible with several missing pages.
“There’s a Bible here…the Bible is left with pages up to Hebrews. Revelations and others are gone,” the guide said while showing the interior of the room.
The resurfaced video has since generated reactions online, with many social media users reflecting on the late president’s spiritual life and humble personality.
President Atta Mills died on July 24, 2012, at the age of 68 at the 37 Military Hospital, just three days after celebrating his birthday.
