The Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, Salome Azevedo, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting education and community development with the inauguration of new classroom blocks for schools in cocoa-growing communities.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Adarkwa Methodist Primary School in Suhum in the Eastern Region on Friday, May 22, 2026, Salome Azevedo said the newly completed six-unit classroom block, with office, storeroom and toilet facilities, is expected to create a safer and more inspiring environment for teaching and learning.

According to her, classrooms play a critical role in shaping the future of children, stressing that effective learning can only take place in an environment that is clean, safe, spacious and properly ventilated.

She noted that students are able to build confidence and nurture their dreams when they feel comfortable and respected in school.

Azevedo disclosed that Nestlé Ghana has so far commissioned four schools in the Ashanti Region and two additional schools, including the Adarkwa facility.

She further revealed that, through a partnership with ECOM, work is currently ongoing on three more school projects expected to be completed before the end of 2026.

She described the projects as part of the company’s “Nestlé for Good” initiative aimed at improving educational infrastructure in underserved communities, particularly within cocoa-growing areas.

“We hope that this facility provides a safe, inspiring and supportive environment for teaching and learning for many years to come,” she stated.

The Nestlé Ghana Managing Director also expressed appreciation to stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project, including government agencies, community leaders, school authorities, residents of Adarkwa and staff of Nestlé Ghana.

She commended all parties for their dedication and commitment to improving education in the community.

Addressing the students, Salome Azevedo encouraged them to study hard, respect their teachers and believe in themselves, describing the new facility as a symbol of hope and opportunity.

She further called on teachers, parents and the community to protect the infrastructure and ensure it serves generations of children in the years ahead.
