Iñaki Williams finished the 2025/26 La Liga season on a high after delivering a brace of assists in Athletic Bilbao's defeat to Real Madrid.
Williams created both of Bilbao's goals as the Rojiblancos suffered a 4-2 loss at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The Spain-born Ghanaian endured a tough season as captain of his boyhood club, scoring only three La Liga goals and adding six assists.
His struggles also affected the club, which, after returning to the UEFA Champions League this season, dropped to 12th place in the just-ended campaign.
Williams apologised to fans of the club in an emotional post on social media, claiming the team would regroup and come back stronger.
Meanwhile, in a thrilling encounter at the Bernabéu, the hosts took an early lead through Gonzalo Garcia before Jude Bellingham doubled the advantage five minutes before half-time.
Just before the referee's whistle for the interval, Williams found Gorka Guruzeta, who halved the deficit.
But after the break, Kylian Mbappé extended Real Madrid's advantage before Brahim Diaz netted with three minutes left.
Williams again set up Urko Izeta to ensure Athletic Bilbao added a second in the last minute of the match.
