United States security officials on Saturday, May 23, 2026, reported a shooting incident at the White House, which led to the lockdown of the building with President Donald Trump inside.

According to multiple reports, a gunman opened fire on the US Secret Service, which led to exchanges of multiple rounds of gunfire at the White House.

A report by the BBC indicated that the suspect was shot and killed by Secret Service agents. Another person, who is believed to be a bystander, was hit by a bullet and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

A video shared by Selina Wang, a journalist with ABC News, showed the moment the shooting started.

The journalist was reporting from the Front Lawn of the White House when shots rang out around her.

She said that she was told to "sprint to the press briefing room" as the White House went into lockdown.

Reports indicated that approximately 20-30 shots were fired during the incident. Secret Service snipers were spotted on the White House roof following the incident.
