The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced a planned and emergency maintenance exercise across the Volta and Ashanti Regions on Friday, May 22, 2026.
According to a report by adomonline.com, the exercise will include two planned maintenance operations in the Volta Region.
“Engineers will undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to several communities from 9:00 am,” the statement said.

The first phase will affect Kpataxoe, Tsita, Tongor, Atoklokpo, Dzakiti, Tsanakpe, Fantikope, Agordeke, Dzemeni, and surrounding areas from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The second exercise will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and affect Bowiri, Apenkwa, Bodada, Jasikan, and the surrounding areas.
In the Ashanti Region, GRIDCo will undertake emergency maintenance works at the Asawinso Bulk Supply Point from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The eight-hour outage will affect Chirano, Nambro, Subri, Anwiaso, Akyease, Kwamekrom, Bibiani, Mensin Gold mining company, Tanodumase, KD Sreso, Nyinahin, Kuffour Camp, Bayerebon, Nagole, Ntobroso, Adobewura, Akorabokrom, Agogoso, Anwiafutu, Kotokuom, Anyinamso 1 and 2, and surrounding areas.
The outage is expected to affect mining operations in the area, including those at Mensin Gold.
ECG and GRIDCo apologised to all affected customers, noting the inconvenience such technical interventions cause to domestic and commercial activities.
The companies said the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
