Parliament has resumed sitting today, May 21, 2026, as the Second Meeting of the Second Session of Ghana’s Ninth Parliament officially begins in Accra.

The House reconvened after adjourning sine die on March 27, 2026, for the Easter break, with proceedings scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.

A notice issued by the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, confirmed the resumption in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament.

The new meeting is expected to focus on key legislative business, including the consideration of pending bills, government policy proposals, and oversight activities involving various ministries, departments, and agencies.

Lawmakers are also expected to intensify scrutiny of public expenditure and accountability issues as committees return to full operation following the recess period.

The resumption marks a critical phase in the parliamentary calendar, with several important national matters anticipated to be tabled before the House in the coming weeks.

Government business is expected to feature prominently as the executive seeks approval for key policy and development initiatives.

Parliament is also expected to continue its role in shaping economic governance and supporting legislative reforms aimed at strengthening public sector efficiency and national development.
