There was a moment of silence, emotions, and reflection when Ghana football legend Asamoah Gyan watched highlights of his iconic World Cup goals during his unveiling as ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and colts football.
In a video shared by 3Sports, as officials and guests looked on, videos of Gyan’s unforgettable strikes at the FIFA World Cup from 2006 to 2014 were played on the big screen, taking many in the room down memory lane.
The former Black Stars captain appeared visibly emotional as some of the most defining moments of his international career flashed before him.
From his historic goal against the Czech Republic at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Ghana’s first-ever World Cup goal, to his famous winner against the United States in 2010 and his equaliser against Portugal in 2014, the footage reminded supporters of the impact Gyan had on Ghanaian football across three World Cups.

The 40-year-old smiled at certain moments but also struggled to hide his emotions as the crowd applauded him throughout the tribute.
Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest footballers, Gyan remains the country’s all-time top scorer and Africa’s highest-scoring player in World Cup history.
