Solomon Owusu of the United Party (UP) has questioned the consistency of Alexander Afenyo-Markin regarding his comments on the independence of the judiciary.
During his appearance on New Day on TV3, Solomon Owusu repeatedly requested that an old video of Afenyo-Markin be played live on air.
According to him, the video shows the Minority Leader stating in 2024 that no member of the executive arm of government could influence court decisions.
“He told the whole country that under no circumstances can any executive influence the decisions of the court,” Solomon Owusu said.
He argued that the earlier statement appears to contradict current claims being made by some opposition figures regarding alleged political influence over judicial matters.
“That is why I wanted the video played for viewers to hear his own words,” he explained.
Solomon Owusu insisted that political leaders must be held accountable for their previous public statements and maintain consistency in their positions.
