The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kasoa, Seth Sarbah Banini, has directed Chinese developers working on the Kasoa China Mall project to immediately clear clogged gutters at their construction site to ensure effective drainage.

Video footage circulating on social media shows Banini on site, addressing a group that includes Chinese representatives and local officials amid visible construction debris, overgrown vegetation, and blocked waterways.

During an inspection exercise, Banini expressed frustration over the obstruction, warning that such practices would not be tolerated.

“There should be other ways to prevent these things from happening… you can't keep this thing here for one night. Tell him, you cannot do it in China. This thing must be cleared, and the drain opened up as soon as possible,” he ordered.

He noted that the area had recently undergone filling works in preparation for further development, only for the construction team to block the drainage system.

“It was recently that this filling was done, we are waiting to mobilise funds to proceed with work. Then you come and do this. So, it's not about you being given small time,” he said.

The MCE instructed workers to immediately break the concrete surface and remove debris to make way for service lines and pavements.

“Quickly move to the front and then move the debris from there, wherever you have to break to make room for these pavements. Break the hardcore concrete surface and then make space for the service lines to go through,” he directed.
