Even if Abronye dies in prison, a thousand more will rise – Dr Zaato charges

Lecturer, Joshua Zaato has criticised the arrest of NPP political communicators, arguing that governments should focus on performance rather than targeting critics.

Speaking on New Day on TV3 with host Roland Walker, the political scientist said public criticism cannot be stopped through arrests or intimidation.

“Don’t pour out your failures on innocent communicators. They are not the cause of your problems,” he said.

According to Dr Zaato, governments with strong economic records do not need to silence opposition voices because their work would naturally speak for itself.

“If your economy is that robust and strong, if what you are doing is that good, let it speak for itself,” he stated.

He also spoke about the arrest of Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, saying such actions would not stop political criticism.

“You don’t need to arrest Abronye because even if Abronye d!es in police cells, a thousand Abronyes will rise up,” he said.

Dr Zaato added that arresting outspoken political figures would only lead to more people speaking out.

"Even if others are arrested, a thousand more will rise up because you cannot prevent people from speaking," he added.
