Athletes who participated in the just-ended 24th African Athletics Championships have heaped praise on the competition, describing the tournament as “amazing,” “very good,” and a major boost for athletics development on the continent.

The championship, which brought together some of Africa’s finest track and field stars, received glowing reviews from competitors who highlighted the atmosphere, fan support and level of competition as key positives of the event.

Several athletes applauded the energy inside the stadiums, stating that the support from spectators created a memorable experience throughout the competition.

“The atmosphere was amazing,” one athlete said.

Another competitor praised the role of the host nation in promoting athletics on the continent.

“It’s very good to see host countries supporting athletics this way. The fans were incredible,” Another stated .

Beyond the atmosphere, some athletes also reflected emotionally on their personal performances during the championship.

One participant expressed gratitude after improving significantly from their previous outing at the African Championships in Douala.

“I feel blessed. Last time in Douala I finished fifth, and now I’ve come second. It’s a big improvement for me,” Another added.

Others described the championship as a valuable learning experience, especially competing against elite athletes from across Africa.

According to them, the competition has provided a strong platform to build momentum for the rest of the athletics season.

“This is a great opportunity to compete against top athletes and use it as motivation going forward,” another athlete noted.

The 24th African Athletics Championships once again showcased the growing standard of athletics across the continent, with athletes leaving the event optimistic about the future and grateful for the experience gained on one of Africa’s biggest sporting stages.
