Nanabanyin Ackon, legal representative of former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Kofi Jumah, has stated that his client has been released after meeting revised bail conditions imposed by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

According to a channelonenewsonline.com report on May 19, 2026, Kofi Jumah was arrested on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, over alleged financial irregularities during his tenure as Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

He explained that EOCO initially set bail at GH¢65 million but later reduced it to GH¢30 million after the matter was heard in court.

He further stated that he has since secured the required sureties and satisfied the conditions for his client.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, May 18, 2026, he revealed that Jumah is currently at his residence in Kumasi and is cooperating with ongoing investigations.

“The next day, when EOCO imposed those conditions on him, we went to court, and the court reviewed the bail application. The GH¢65 million bail condition was reduced to GH¢30 million. He was able to get sureties and fulfilled the bail conditions. He left the hospital and went home. So, as we speak, he’s home,” he stated.

“As part of the bail conditions, he is to report once a month. We’re available to cooperate with investigations; any information they want, we will provide it,” he added.

Reports also indicate that the former GIHOC boss was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital shortly after his arrest.

The arrest followed a raid at his residence in Kumasi as part of EOCO’s investigations into alleged breaches of public financial management during his tenure as Managing Director of the state-owned company.
