A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan, Kojo Adu-Asare, is urging kidney patients to avoid unverified herbal remedies, warning that they can make health conditions worse.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen, the former lawmaker opened up about his battle with end-stage renal disease and revealed he once survived a frightening emergency during treatment.

Adu-Asare said about three years ago, his blood pressure crashed after a dialysis session, and he collapsed at home.

"I fractured my hip. My BP dropped, and that was it. I went off. My house help was the one who saved me," he recalled.

The incident left him with a hip fracture and forced him to rely on a full-time driver due to the physical strain and weakness that come with dialysis treatment.

He advised patients to seek proper medical care instead of relying on unproven treatments.

"Once it gets to Stage Four, you are at the end-stage. There is no way to reverse it. You should seek proper medical care instead of relying on concoctions," he said.

Despite the challenges, Adu Asare said he remains active and keeps a positive outlook on life.
