The Southern African nation controlled the race from start to finish at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra, leaving the home crowd disappointed as Ghana failed to secure a medal once again.
Kemorena Tisang stormed to gold after crossing the line in an impressive time of 48.66 seconds to claim the continental title.
His compatriot Victor Ntweng followed closely behind to seal silver for Botswana with a time of 49.21 seconds, completing a memorable evening for the country in the event.
South Africa’s Wenich Van Rooyen claimed bronze after finishing third in 49.35 seconds.
Anger on social media over controversies at African Athletics Championship
For Ghana, all eyes were on Seidu Mammoudou Baba, who had generated attention earlier in the competition after publicly complaining about scheduling confusion during the heats.
However, the Ghanaian hurdler was unable to challenge for the medals in the final and eventually crossed the line in fifth place with a time of 51.29 seconds.
The result means Ghana’s wait for a medal in the men’s 400m hurdles continues despite strong support from the home fans inside the stadium.
