A tragic incident has ended in the death of a young carpenter, Kwaku Blankson, after his wife allegedly attacked him with a cutlass while he was asleep.
The incident occurred at Ekumfi Asaman in the Central Region, where the couple lived and operated a farm together while also engaging in the charcoal business.
According to Sylvester Awuah Brobbey, a reporter with Accra-based United Television (UTV), trouble started about a week ago when Aunty Esi (also known as Maame Esi) complained that the money realised from the sale of charcoal was less than expected.
This led to a misunderstanding and tension between the couple that lingered for days.

"The dispute escalated yesterday when the wife reportedly rekindled the argument, resulting in Kwaku Blankson assaulting her. Later that night, while her husband was asleep, Maame Esi took a cutlass and inflicted severe machete wounds on him," he narrated.
"Kwaku Blankson was rushed to a local hospital in Mankessim but was immediately referred to another facility due to the seriousness of his injuries. He was transferred again for further treatment, but sadly passed away," he added.
Maame Esi has since been arrested by the police and has been remanded into custody by the court to await trial.
