A tragic incident was averted through the swift intervention of bystanders when a commercial vehicle nearly ran over a hawker selling by the roadside.
The incident, which occurred at a yet-to-be identified area in Accra, involved a red car with registration number GR 512-26 that reportedly knocked down the hawker, suspected to be a middle-aged woman, leaving her injured.
Four burnt beyond recognition in fiery head-on collision
In the video sighted by GhanaWeb and shared on X by State News on May 13, 2026, the woman was seen trapped under the front parts of the vehicle after the impact.
Distressed bystanders and passersby were heard shouting at the driver to reverse the vehicle to prevent further harm to the victim.
The footage also showed the woman being pulled from beneath the car by some of the onlookers, while her goods, believed to be food snacks, could be seen scattered across the road.
She appeared shaken and traumatised, with visible injuries to her leg, as efforts were made to rush her to the hospital for medical attention.

In some of the background audio in the video, some onlookers could be heard reprimanding the driver for his actions.
