President of the Ghana Athletics Association, Bawa Fuseini, has responded to growing complaints from journalists covering the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra.

Since the start of the competition, several media personnel have raised concerns over poor internet access at the media centre as well as overcrowding in the media tribune, where fans were reportedly chanting and singing during events, making it difficult for journalists to work effectively.

Addressing the media at the end of day two of the championships on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Fuseini admitted there had been internet challenges but assured journalists that efforts would be made to resolve the issue.

“We have internet, but if it’s not working, we will fix it tomorrow,” he said.

He also addressed complaints about difficulties accessing start lists for events.

“The start list is always there. I don’t know why you don’t get it. Maybe you go there in large numbers. So if you don’t have access to the start list, tomorrow let’s sort it out before the afternoon session,” he added.

Fuseini further explained that the issue regarding limited seating space for journalists was beyond his control due to the stadium’s design.

“This is how the stadium was built. I can’t create more space for the media,” he stated.

The GAA president also warned journalists about movement restrictions around competition areas, insisting that media personnel must respect international athletics regulations.

“I’ve attended multiple athletics competitions. Some of you know that you have no right to take cameras and be walking around, but you have been doing it,” he said.
