In fact, Obuasi Goldfields should be NATIONALIZED....even with penalty.
Obuasi Goldfield was at some point the richest gold mine in the world....far richer than the Johannesburg one. But comparing OBUASI and JOHANNESBURG will make you cry....
Obuasi is still a stuggling small town....whilst JoBurg is a gargantuan city.
The clever dwarf NADAA would have agreed to the extension, and determined the percentage with his and his family as "part of it"......That is what the NPP did.
With the NPP out of power, All GOLD MINES should now come under Ghanaians.....

This corrupt government does have the sense to reject the request. I hope they do not allow this historic opportunity to manage our affairs.

20 years for what? Hell no, enough of slavery and corruption by foreign investors in Ghana, they bribed minister's and few unpatriotic Ghanaians for legal right to extend their contracts and leases for 30, 40 and 50 years, when the rest of the population suffers in dire poverty, and national debts everywhere. We have to fix our country and take back all the mining contracts in house, Ghana government ownership, full stop, no more playing games and lies by our government and leaders who just can't think for themselves, enough of poverty in Ghana. Ghana was and is meant to be the richest country on earth, the entire country sits on gold or other important minerals, yet we are poor, which is down to corruption, mismanagement, thievery, lies by our useless leaders over the past 50 years.

Johannesburg and other places developments because the government uses the revenues for good use. No mining company builds a city.
Believe me, the mining industry will collapse in few years with this position. We have been there before not long.
Is because gold prices are up. Mining investment is capital intensive and very risky
Currently in the country, junior miners are seeking funds for development world wide , no Ghanaian or Ghanaian owned entity have showed interest. Tomorrow, foreign investment may come in and the chorus will be let nationalised.
Blue gold is seeking 1bn usd because of emotions by our leaders.
Mining don't build a country is quality leadership

We need to take interest and investigate the impact these foreign investors bring on board
Golfields held E&P hands to develop them to reach this far
They cant even pay suppliers and other partners.
We are in the community and knows the issues E& P has so please take a break and stop this deceiptful campaign against a company who has made huge impact incountry
Few months ago,the mine workers union rose up against minerals commision decision to ensure every mine does contract mining .

As in many other comments, Goldfields is on the Ghana stock exchange any Ghanaian can buy a share of the company E&P is not on the Ghana stock exchange, the workers at E&P have salary arrears, are paid half the salary of a GoldField's worker, and the boss fly's around in an executive jet. When one of the E&P workers drove his $100,000 truck into the Tarkwa mine pit the E&P managers did not notice and listed his truck working for 12 hours on the time sheet supplied to GoldFields, there was no effort to check anything until the mans wife calls complaining her husband did not come home from work.

Tarkwa s water problems due to Galamsey errects at water treatment plants at Bonsa.Nothing to do with mines. How is the country going to build more mines and engage mines to development projrams. We know if government controls mines the capital investment reduces and production eventually falls.Government interference and policy changes also play a part.
Tarkwa would need serious capital to maintain production.
International arbitration awaits Ghana with judgement debt looming. We need innovative thinking to grow sector.
Mines can help in electricity generation projects etc which is the norm worldwide
