Over 100 traders at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region have protested what they describe as an "unlawful eviction" from a parcel of land currently under court injunction, accusing the Municipal Assembly of attempting to reallocate it to a private developer.
The traders, under the Settlers Association near the Ashaiman traffic light, say they will resist any move to remove them from the site.
Spokesperson Jeffrey Eli in an interview with Channel One TV monitored by GhanaWeb on May 11, 2026, accused the Municipal Chief Executive, Freeman Tsekpo of harassment and ignoring court processes.

“You (The Assembly) have already demolished some of our properties… some of our members are sitting at home… some are hospitalised… some have even died out of this situation… as it stands now, you have blood on your hands because your actions are causing all this mess,” he alleged.
The group insists they legally acquired the land through a 2008 lease from TBC and have repeatedly presented documents to authorities.
“We have brought our documents to his office on several occasions… he has refused to accept it because he knows we will bring the original title,” he added.
The traders are calling for all evictions to stop until the court delivers a final ruling.
