Leaders and members of Goodness City International Church have called on children to desist from insulting their mothers or referring to them as witches during a donation exercise at Tema General Hospital ahead of Mother’s Day celebrations.

The church made the appeal while donating assorted items to new mothers at the hospital as part of efforts to support and encourage them in their journey of motherhood.

Items donated included diapers, baby wipes, Power Zone drinks, washing powder, detergents, delivery pads, and other essential supplies for both mothers and babies.

Speaking during the presentation, Stella Serwa Akpakli said mothers deserve appreciation, respect, and support for the sacrifices they make for their children and families.

She urged children to stop verbally abusing their mothers or accusing them of witchcraft, stressing that mothers play a vital role in shaping society through the care and guidance they provide.

“We are here in advance of Mother’s Day to celebrate with the new mothers, to congratulate them and to support them with little care items in their journey of motherhood,” she stated.

According to her, the church’s outreach programme is rooted in Christian values of love, peace, unity, and compassion.

“As our Lord Jesus Christ taught us, we are to love one another, be united, spread the message of salvation and peace, and seek souls for the kingdom of God,” she said.

Akpakli further encouraged mothers to remain strong despite the challenges associated with raising children, adding that they should continue to guide and pray for their children rather than give up on them.

“We are here to pray with the new mothers and journey with them through motherhood because we know it is not an easy journey,” she added.

She also advised mothers to raise their children with strong Christian and moral values so they can become responsible citizens in society.

Mother’s Day is celebrated annually to honour mothers and recognise their contributions and sacrifices toward the growth of families and communities.
