The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is preparing to file fresh charges against former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, after uncovering new evidence in its investigation into the alleged theft and laundering of more than GH¢78 million.

This was disclosed by EOCO Executive Director Raymond Archer, who said the agency has submitted a new investigative report to the Attorney General and expects the case to return to court as early as next week.

“The new evidence is being forwarded to the Attorney General based on a report that we have compiled and we will continue the interrogation of Hanan,” Archer said during an interview with Joy News on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

He indicated that the withdrawal of the earlier case against Aludiba and four other accused persons was a procedural step and not an indication that the matter had been abandoned.

“I am sure that quickly, next week, those charges will be filed,” he added.

Prosecutors on Tuesday, May 5 2026, withdrew all charges against Aludiba, his wife, Faiza Wuni, and three other accused persons, effectively bringing the initial proceedings to a close.

However, Archer emphasised that investigations remain active and that EOCO is continuing to interrogate the former NAFCO chief executive as part of efforts to build a stronger case.

The accused persons had been standing trial over allegations involving the misappropriation and laundering of more than GH¢78 million, making the case one of the most closely watched financial crime prosecutions in Ghana in recent years.

The matter has attracted significant public attention because of the scale of the alleged losses and the prominence of the individuals involved.
