The camp of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister of Education, has welcomed the appointment of the Bosomtwi lawmaker as Co-Chairman of the Education Policy Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), 3news.com reports.

Yaw Opoku Mensah, Spokesperson for Dr Osei Adutwum, said that they are poised to ensure a victory for the NPP and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general elections.

"We are going to work hard to ensure a victory for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia," he told Joy News on Friday.

The Structure

At the apex of the new framework sits the NPP Policy Committee, chaired by legislator and former Minister of Works and Housing and Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah. Dr Kwasi Nyame Baafi, a technocrat, has been named Secretary to the Committee, a role expected to lend significant intellectual and administrative rigour to its operations.

The Committee will oversee a broad range of sector-specific sub-committees spanning employment and jobs, energy, decentralisation and local governance, roads and transport, land and natural resources, education, health, the economy, and several other critical policy areas.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the outspoken businessman and former Member of Parliament, has been appointed Co-Chairman of the Employment and Jobs Policy Committee — a portfolio that aligns with his long-standing advocacy for private sector-led job creation and entrepreneurship.

Kwabena Agyapong, former NPP General Secretary, takes the co-chairmanship of the Housing and Urban Development Policy Committee, a sector whose deficits remain a pressing concern for Ghanaians in both urban and rural communities.

Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Agriculture and Interior, assumes the co-chairmanship of the Defence and Interior Policy Committee, a natural fit for a man who brings firsthand ministerial experience in security and governance.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Education, completes the quartet as Co-Chairman of the Education Policy Committee, bringing with him a track record of policy innovation and a deep commitment to transforming Ghana's educational landscape.

The appointments are being read as more than a structural exercise. By placing his four former rivals at the heart of the party's policy architecture, Dr Bawumia is sending a clear message: the NPP's internal competition is over, and the focus has shifted entirely to preparing for government.
