Member of Parliament for Suame and legal counsel for the Minority Caucus, John Darko has questioned the legality of Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative.
Speaking on the initiative, he said the formation of ORAL was flawed from the onset because it lacks legal backing.
According to a report by channelonenewsonline.com on May 6, 2026, he maintained that the process was rushed and its establishment was unconstitutional.
“My position from day one was that even the establishment of that so-called ORAL was illegal, and I maintained that a president-elect, by no powers in our Constitution or any of our laws, has the power to set up a committee to investigate people,” he said.

“A president-elect, not a president. Even by that, you could see that they were just rushing,” he added.
He questioned the effectiveness of the initiative, insisting that it generated more publicity than actual results.
“They said themselves that they received a lot of trash. They were all over the place. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said they were going to receive $21 billion. Are we close to receiving even a billion dollars from anybody? It was just noise,” he stated.
The Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative was set up by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration ahead of its assumption of office to receive complaints and information on alleged corruption, state capture and misappropriation of public resources at a time when the NDC was in opposition.
The team, which included lawyers, anti-corruption campaigners and party officials, invited members of the public to submit evidence of alleged wrongdoing for possible investigation and recovery of state assets.
