Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has suggested a significant expansion of the criminal case involving former National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Hanan Abdul-Wahab and his wife Faiza Seidu Wuni, following fresh legal developments.
According to a report by myjoyonline.com on May 5, 2026, the Office of the Attorney-General withdrew the initial charges after uncovering what it described as ‘fresh evidence’ in the case involving an alleged GH¢78 million loss to the state.
Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, informed the High Court that the state had discontinued proceedings to allow for a new case to be filed.
Reacting to the move, Kpebu said the development, while troubling, signals the likelihood of a broader corruption scheme being uncovered.
“Fresh evidence means more loot it’s sad, but the good news is that at least it means that they've uncovered it,” he said.

He argued that Attorney General Dominic Ayine and his team would not risk public backlash by terminating the trial unless the new evidence was substantial.
“For them to stop this trial and say they are going to start a fresh one, it tells you that it must be worth it,” he stressed.
The accused persons were earlier discharged by the court after a nolle prosequi was filed.
However, operatives from Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) quickly re-arrested the couple outside the court premises; an indication that fresh charges are imminent.
Kpebu believes the new case will likely expose a wider network of alleged financial irregularities and urged the public to remain patient as prosecutors prepare a new docket.
“It must be big. It must be worth the cancellation of the case and it filing afresh,” he said.
