Seven individuals are in critical condition following a head-on collision between a taxi and a Sienta vehicle with registration number WN-128-26, on the evening of Monday, May 4, in Wiawso.
According to a report by 3news.com on May 5, 2026, the passenger in the taxi indicated that the accident occurred when the driver attempted to avoid potholes on the road.
“The driver was swerving to avoid the potholes, and all of a sudden, we found ourselves in the opposite lane, and that’s when the Sienta vehicle crashed into us,” he said.
The driver of the Sienta also spoke to the media, explaining that the taxi unexpectedly veered into his lane, leaving him little time to act.
“I was in my lane when I saw the taxi coming straight towards me. It was moving erratically, and before I could do anything, it had already crashed into my vehicle,” he said.
He further attributed the accident to the poor condition of the road, stating, that “the potholes on this stretch are very dangerous. Drivers are forced to swerve, and that is what is causing these accidents.”
All injured victims were promptly transported to Asafo Hospital and Wiawso Hospital for medical treatment.
