Black Stars midfielder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has opened up on his first close encounter with teammate Thomas Partey, revealing how quickly he realised the midfielder’s exceptional quality once they began training together.
Kyereh, who previously shared the pitch with Partey for Ghana at both the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, says his perception of the midfielder changed completely after experiencing him up close in camp.
Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports, the Freiburg midfielder admitted that watching Partey on television did not fully prepare him for what he saw in training.
“I always saw him as a really good player on television before I met him in the national team but when I was training with him, I saw his quality from another angle, and he’s so good,” he said.

Kyereh was clearly left impressed by the intensity and control Partey brings to his game, especially in training situations where space and time are limited.
“What a player?! What an amazing player!” he added.
The admiration comes as Kyereh continues his recovery journey, gradually rebuilding match fitness with Freiburg’s U23 side after a lengthy injury layoff.
