President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) for their sustained and effective efforts in tackling armed robbery and organised crime, as well as their ongoing reforms within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Odumase Krobo Laasi Divisional Police Headquarters, the President praised the leadership of the Police Administration, noting that their approach to security operations had been both strategic and impactful.
According to a report by 3news.com on May 2, 2026, the President noted that ongoing operational reforms and intensified security interventions were contributing significantly to improved public safety and the disruption of criminal networks across the country.
“I also want to take this opportunity to commend the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board, his leadership team, for their dedication to transforming the Police Service,” he stated.

In addition to his earlier remarks, he further noted that the current Police leadership had been deliberate in their work style.
“This Police Management team has been quiet, they don't make too much noise, but they are very effective,” he indicated.
Responding to these commendations, IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno expressed gratitude to the President for his continued support in strengthening the country’s security architecture.
He highlighted government investments in retooling the Police Service, particularly the provision of armoured vehicles, which he said had been instrumental in foiling several robbery incidents.
The IGP reaffirmed the Police Administration's commitment to maintaining momentum in crime-fighting efforts and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
