A dispute has erupted between veteran actor Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, and Dr George Oti Bonsu over leadership and ownership claims surrounding the newly formed Base political movement.
The tension escalated after Dr Oti Bonsu, speaking in an interview on Lawson Radio on May 1, 2026, dismissed comparisons with the actor, stating that Agya Koo was “not at my level.”
Dr Oti Bonsu maintained that he founded the Base Movement, linking its origins to his role as a fundraising chairman for Kennedy Agyapong. He insisted that he had documentation proving the group's formation and challenged Agya Koo to do the same.

“If he says it is his, he should state the date and produce registration documents,” Dr Oti Bonsu said, adding that the matter could ultimately be settled in court.
While denying any personal feud, Dr Oti Bonsu criticised what he described as a lack of structure in Agya Koo’s approach, arguing that popularity alone is not enough to build a political party.
“You don’t storm markets to draw attention without a clear message and ideology,” he said.
“Please, Agya Koo is not at my level, so don’t draw me into this debate,” he added.
The comment drew a sharp response from Agya Koo, who subsequently visited the studio and fired back at Dr Oti Bonsu.

He questioned Dr Oti Bonsu’s influence and challenged him to test their popularity on the ground.
“So he says I’m not his level? Let both of us go to the market and see who draws a crowd,” the actor retorted.
Agya Koo also dismissed the idea that political movements can be built in secret.
“Does he think a party is formed from a hotel room?” he asked.
He further referenced the turnout at media appearances, suggesting that his presence attracts significantly more public attention than his rival.
Despite his strong response, Agya Koo acknowledged that the matter is currently before the courts and indicated he would limit further public commentary.
“Let’s wait for the court to decide,” he said.
