Michael James Jackson has been appointed interim manager of Burnley Football Club following the departure of Scott Parker, the club confirmed on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Scott Parker left his role by mutual consent after Burnley’s relegation from the 2025–2026 English Premier League season was confirmed, with four games still to play.

His exit brings an end to a difficult spell at Turf Moor, despite previously guiding the club back to the top flight from the Championship.

At the time of his departure, Burnley were 19th in the Premier League with just 20 points, having recorded four wins, eight draws, and 22 defeats in a disappointing campaign that ultimately ended in relegation.

A statement from the club confirmed the change in leadership: Parker and the board agreed that his tenure should conclude following discussions after relegation was confirmed.

Burnley added that Jackson, supported by the existing backroom staff, will take charge of the final four Premier League fixtures of the season.

Jackson is no stranger to the club, having been part of Vincent Kompany’s coaching staff since the 2022–23 season.

He also previously worked with Burnley’s U23 side and briefly served as interim first-team manager before Kompany’s appointment.

His immediate task will be to steady the team and restore confidence as Burnley prepare for life back in the Championship.
