The Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has dismissed as “false and malicious” reports alleging that military lands have been handed over to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, for private development.

In a disclaimer posted on Facebook on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Deputy Minister clarified that no such allocation has been made, describing the circulating claims as fake news intended to mislead the public.

He explained that the reports appear to have stemmed from an ongoing self-help redevelopment initiative by the Ghana Armed Forces, aimed at replacing aging, colonial-era structures at Burma Camp.

As part of efforts to support the project, Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Group, has donated GH¢120 million towards the construction of 10 residential blocks, each comprising 16 housing units.

The Ministry noted that the redevelopment project is designed to improve living conditions for military personnel and address long-standing infrastructure challenges within the camp.

The fundraising campaign for the initiative was launched at a luncheon held last Saturday at the Ghana Military Academy. The event was chaired by renowned business leader Sir Sam Jonah and attracted pledges and contributions from corporate institutions and partners of the Armed Forces.
