US President Donald Trump and members of his cabinet were rushed out of the White House correspondents’ dinner at a hotel in Washington, DC, after shots were fired outside the event.

Trump is safe and says the shooter has been apprehended.

He says First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance are “in perfect condition” and that law enforcement has requested that they leave the premises.

The White House correspondents’ dinner will be rescheduled in 30 days.

Trump said law enforcement agencies think the shooter was a lone wolf actor.

He said he doesn’t think the shooting was linked to the war on Iran.
