President John Dramani Mahama has revealed how he lured Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to the Jubilee House for a surprise 60th birthday celebration after he had initially indicated he would not report to work that day.
Speaking during the event held on April 24, 2026, President Mahama disclosed that Debrah had informed him he would not be coming to the office. However, arrangements were quickly made to get him to the Jubilee House without raising suspicion.
“He said today he wasn’t coming to the office. I was asked to deliver him to office. So, I told him some Dubai businessmen are here,” President Mahama said.
He explained how the Chief of Staff was persuaded to attend what he believed was an urgent business meeting.
Upon arriving at the Jubilee House, Debrah was instead welcomed by colleagues, friends and associates who had gathered to celebrate his 60th birthday in a surprise ceremony organised in his honour.
